A lot of early work on computing and graphical user interfaces was done at Xerox Parc, including the creation of the mouse and the common Windows, Icons, Menus and Pointer (WIMP) interface model. Parc is located close to Stanford University.

Today it is the turn of Shockley Semi-conductor, the first semi-conductor company in Silicon Valley. The sign on the right marks the spot.
